This is an intermediate (B1/B2) grammar review course series. You can join the whole course series or any of the 3 courses. Each course is 6 meetings. This is the third part. If you took English classes a long time ago and were at B1/B2 level, but haven't used the language much since then and feel you have forgotten a lot or if you simply need to build your confidence with English grammar, these courses may be for you. In these classes you can review some basic grammatical phenomena at B1/B2 level. Take a closer look at our planned classes below and see if they interest you. A quick theory review, grammar exercises, and speaking are all part of the lessons. Be ready to talk sharing real or imaginary stories, opinions, and viewpoints. No course book is required. Material will be provided by the teacher. There will be some optional homework assignments for anyone interested. Third Course Class 13: Past participle and the passive voice (formst, uses, basic rules in 3 tenses) and exercises Class 14: The passive voice in all tenses and combination exercises Class 15: The conditionals: The zero, first, and second conditionals and combination exercises Class 16: The conditionals: The third conditional and second conditionals Class 17: The Gerund vs. the Infinitive Class 18: Reported speech
This series of 4 meetings each will look at different countries. In this 4 lessons we ‘visit’ California and Florida. We will look at different aspects of each country and learn about culture, local cuisine, geography, nature, interesting cities, landmarks, famous sightseeing places, history etc. The point is to both learn and give the students interesting new topics for fun conversation. We will spend two lessons on each country. The lessons include videos, audios, articles, vocabulary, and different exercises. Learners will be given the opportunity to do reading, speaking, vocabulary and listening exercises. Be ready to talk to your fellow student travelers and share your travel experiences, travel plans, favorite destinations, favorite international cuisine and dishes, landmarks etc.
English Idioms & Phrases II Although English Idioms and Phrases are usually a challenge for students, they are also proof of how rich and beautiful the English language really is. "Much ado about nothing", "running against the clock", "let's play it by ear", "easy does it" and so many more are only a few examples of the thousands of idioms and phrases that exist and are used by native speakers every day. Join me in revealing and exploring some of the most interesting English Idioms and Phrases (common and uncommon ones), as we expand our knowledge, deepen our understanding, while we also have some fun. We will study definitions and examples and we will attempt to create our own sentences as well. The result will leave you feeling more confident about your English skills.

There are over 90 different Idiomatic phrases related to words of Animals and animal parts and as all idioms their meaning is usually very different from what they sound like at first. They can be interesting or even funny such as "a wolf in sheep's clothing", "monkey see, monkey do," or "when pigs fly. Join us in this course as we explore their meaning, dictionary example sentences and possible origins of such phrases, while we also search for similar phrases in the German language or other languages. First Course - 6 meetings Class 1: Review of the verb 'to be' and the Present Continuous tense, Uses, and exercises. Stative verbs vs Active verbs Class 2: Review of Simple Present, uses, exercises & combination exercises with Present Continuous, more on Stative verbs. Class 3: Simple Past (uses and how it is formed) and Irregular verbs (review the 3 forms in 70-80 verbs), Class 4: Present Perfect Simple, Present Perfect Continuous and Irregular verbs (the Past Participle), uses , examples and exercises. Class 5: Present Perfect Simple vs. Simple Past, differences, and combination exercises. Class 6: Conjunctions: We will look at the list of all Conjunctions and focus on the ones the group needs to review. Some examples: no sooner…than, even though, while, not only…but also, neither…nor, Either…or, rather…than, and more.
Everyone knows the phrases "to fall in love with" or "love at first sight", but there are others such as "to have the hots for" or "to have a crush on" which you may not.There are 57 different phrases and idioms related to love in the English language which I would love to teach you. Join us for a course where we explore the meaning of such phrases, their linguistic origins or where they may come from, we find example sentences while we also search for similar phrases in the German language or other languages we may know.
